The Stoveman 20R-LS Heavy (13110290) is the ultimate wood-burning sauna stove for those who demand the highest level of build quality, softness of steam, and long-term durability. Combining the external firebox (LS) configuration with the HEAVY series' reinforced 8 mm thick steel on all fire-contact surfaces, this stove is engineered for intensive private or professional use in saunas of 12 to 20 m³.
The stove's advanced thermal system is built around six dedicated air channels on the outer wall. These channels accelerate convection — drawing fresh air upward, heating it, and directing it through up to 160 kg of sauna stones. An insulated metal plate separates the firebox heat from the outer body, channelling energy directly into the stones rather than radiating harsh heat from the steel surface. The result is exceptionally soft, enveloping steam with minimal direct radiation — the gold standard in sauna comfort.
Every unit is hand-assembled with a handmade 10×20 mm square steel mesh cage, glass-fronted door, and the option to install the Stoveman SV1 heat exchanger for integrated hot water generation. The external firebox means all wood loading and ash removal happens from the adjacent room — the sauna itself stays spotless throughout every session.

How does the 20R-LS Heavy differ from the standard 20R-LS?
The Heavy variant uses 8 mm thick steel on all fire-contact parts (vs 5 mm on the standard model) and weighs 112 kg compared to 87 kg. This makes it significantly more robust, better suited to daily intensive use, and provides even better heat retention in the stone mass over long sessions.
What is the purpose of the 6 air channels?
The six outer wall air channels accelerate natural convection around the stove body, drawing cool air in at the base, heating it as it passes the firebox, and directing it up through the stone basket. This produces faster room heating and more even temperature distribution compared to stoves without this system.
Why does the insulated plate matter for steam quality?
Without insulation, a significant portion of heat would radiate directly from the steel body as harsh, dry heat. The insulated plate redirects this energy upward into the stone mass instead, where it is stored and released gently — producing the signature soft steam associated with high-end wood-burning saunas.
Are sauna stones included?
No — sauna stones must be purchased separately. The stove accommodates up to 160 kg. Use only purpose-made sauna stones that are rated for direct contact with high heat.
Can a water heater be added?
Yes. The Stoveman SV1 heat exchanger can be retrofitted to the 20R-LS Heavy to provide hot water during sessions. It is sold separately.
Is this stove approved for Germany?
No. The stove holds a CE certificate for European markets but does not carry a BimSchV certificate, which is mandatory for wood-burning appliances in Germany.
