The Stoveman 20R-LS is a powerful and versatile wood-burning sauna stove built for  medium to large saunas of 12 to 20 m³. Its defining feature is the external firebox (LS) — allowing the stove to be loaded with wood from an adjacent room, keeping the sauna space clean, tidy, and free of ash and wood debris throughout every session.

Constructed from 5 mm heat-resistant steel throughout the main body (3 mm base, 2 mm ash pan), the stove is designed to withstand prolonged high-temperature use. Six integrated air channels in the outer body create enhanced natural convection, circulating heated air evenly across the sauna room. The handmade 10×20 mm steel mesh basket holds up to 160 kg of sauna stones, providing a generous thermal mass for soft, enveloping steam and sustained heat long after the fire has settled. A glass-fronted door lets you enjoy the live flame from the adjacent room.

The Stoveman 20R-LS is also compatible with the Stoveman SV1 heat exchanger, allowing hot water to be generated during sauna sessions — a practical upgrade for any bathhouse.

What does the "LS" stand for?

"LS" denotes the external firebox configuration — the firebox protrudes through the sauna wall so wood is loaded from an adjacent room (typically a dressing room or relaxation area). This keeps the sauna room completely clean and allows you to stoke the fire without entering the sauna.

What is the difference between the 20R-LS and the 20R-LS Heavy?

The standard 20R-LS uses 5 mm firebox steel, while the Heavy version upgrades to 8 mm on all fire-contact surfaces. The Heavy variant is heavier (112 kg vs 87 kg) and better suited to intensive daily use or commercial environments.

Can I use this for both humid and dry sauna sessions?

Yes. The 160 kg stone capacity means you can throw water generously for a humid, steam-rich session, or use the stove more conservatively for a drier, Finnish-style heat experience.

Are sauna stones included?

No — sauna stones must be purchased separately. The stove accepts up to 160 kg of stones. Always use appropriate sauna-rated stones to avoid cracking and overheating.

Can I install a water heater?

Yes, the Stoveman SV1 heat exchanger is compatible with this stove and can be installed to provide hot water during sessions. It is sold separately.

Is this stove suitable for Germany?

No. The stove holds a CE certificate but not a BimSchV certificate, which is required for wood-burning appliances in Germany. It is intended for markets outside Germany.
