The Stoveman 20R Heavy is a rugged, high-capacity wood-burning sauna stove built for those who demand uncompromising power, authentic steam, and lasting reliability. It is the reinforced variant of the popular 20R model, constructed throughout with 8 mm thick steel on all fire-contact surfaces — significantly heavier duty than standard models — making it ideal for intensive private or commercial sauna use.
Every unit is hand-assembled and hand-welded for complete structural integrity and full tightness under prolonged extreme heat. Six dedicated air channels around the body drive active convection, drawing air upward past the stone basket for faster room heating and a more even temperature throughout the session. The handcrafted 10×20 mm steel mesh cage provides both durability and an attractive industrial aesthetic.
The Stoveman 20R Heavy holds up to 160 kg of sauna stones, delivering extraordinarily soft, gentle steam with no harsh radiant heat from the body. A glass-fronted door allows you to watch the live fire — an experience at the heart of the traditional sauna ritual.

Installation
Installation
- Position the stove on a non-combustible, load-bearing base — the unit weighs 100 kg before stones are added.
- Maintain minimum safety clearances: 1200 mm to the ceiling, 500 mm to combustible side walls.
- Connect a 115 mm diameter flue pipe to the smoke outlet and route to a certified chimney.
- Load sauna stones into the basket gradually; maximum stone load is 160 kg.
- Optionally install the Stoveman SV1 heat exchanger for water heating capability.
- Follow all local fire safety and building regulations. Refer to the user manual before commissioning.

What makes the "Heavy" version different from the standard 20R?
The Heavy version uses 8 mm thick steel throughout all fire-contact parts, compared to lighter gauge steel in the standard model. This results in greater longevity, better heat retention, and suitability for more intensive use — whether in private saunas used daily or commercial sauna facilities.
Can this stove heat both humid and dry steam saunas?
Yes. The 160 kg stone capacity and efficient convection system allow you to adjust steam type by varying the volume of water thrown onto the stones. Light application produces drier heat; generous löyly creates rich, humid steam.
Are sauna stones included?
No. Stones are sold separately. We recommend using purpose-made sauna stones compatible with high-output wood-burning stoves. Up to 160 kg can be loaded.
Can I add a water heater to this stove?
Yes. The Stoveman 20R Heavy is compatible with the Stoveman SV1 heat exchanger, which can be retrofitted to provide hot water during sauna sessions.

Are flue/smoke pipes included?
No — smoke pipes are not included. You will need a 115 mm flue system. Both metal smoke pipes and stainless steel chimney pipes are available in our store.
Delivery: This item is dispatched from our UK warehouse. At 100 kg, delivery is handled by a specialist freight/pallet courier. You will be contacted to arrange a suitable delivery window. Estimated lead time is 3–7 working days.
Returns: Returns are accepted within 30 days of receipt for unused items in original packaging. Return freight for heavy items is at the buyer's cost unless the goods are faulty or incorrectly supplied. Report any damage within 48 hours of delivery with photographs and we will resolve the matter quickly.
