The SAWO Altostratus ALTO-180NS-P is an 18.0 kW floor-mounted electric sauna heater built for the most demanding applications — large private saunas, hotel SPA facilities, fitness clubs, and public bathing spaces of 18 to 30 m³. At the heart of its performance is a premium combination of high-grade stainless steel casing and soapstone elements — a natural material renowned for its exceptional heat capacity and ability to retain warmth long after the heating cycle ends.
The massive stone frame, accepting up to 100 kg of stones, creates a dense, uniform thermal mass that delivers consistently soft and saturated steam with each water infusion. After the sauna session, the accumulated heat in the soapstone elements accelerates room drying — a practical benefit for commercial operations. Aroma cups at the corners add aromatherapy capability, and the adjustable feet ensure stable, level installation on any surface.
A separate control unit is required (not included). Compatible units include the SAWO Innova Series, Trend, or equivalent high-power controllers.

Installation
- Position the heater on a non-combustible, level floor surface in the sauna room.
- Use the adjustable feet to ensure a stable, level installation.
- Maintain safety clearances: 1200 mm to ceiling, 150 mm to side walls.
- Connect to a 400 V 3N supply using 5 × 2.5 mm² cable, 3 × 16 A fused. Use only a qualified electrician.
- Connect a compatible SAWO Innova or Trend control unit per the manufacturer's wiring diagram.
- Load sauna stones (up to 100 kg) before first use. Read the full user manual before commissioning.

What makes soapstone special for a sauna heater?
Soapstone (talc-chlorite) has an exceptionally high specific heat capacity — it absorbs and retains heat more effectively than most other materials. This means the stones stay hot for longer after the heating cycle, delivering sustained steam and helping the sauna room dry out quickly after the session ends.
Is a control unit included?
No — a separate control unit is required. Compatible units include the SAWO Innova Series and SAWO Trend controllers. Choosing a control unit separately allows you to match the functionality to your specific installation requirements.
Are sauna stones included?
No. Sauna stones (up to 100 kg) must be purchased separately. Use only stones rated for electric sauna heaters to ensure safe and efficient operation.
