Volcanic pumice is a natural insulator — it lets flue gases reach optimum temperature fast for peak appliance performance, and keeps the chimney warmer for longer, reducing condensation and soot build-up. It's one of the safest, most durable materials in the market, backed by Schiedel's extensive heritage in mineral heating and chimney systems.

Requires a flat, solid foundation — a minimum 100mm thick reinforced concrete base is strongly recommended so the structure doesn't sink or slant over time. Minimum clearance from combustible materials (fencing, pergolas) is 75mm. Most UK homes can install under Permitted Development rights without formal planning permission, subject to height, boundary and land-coverage rules — get in touch if you'd like guidance for your specific site.
